Today let’s find a blogging platform for you!
“Blogging platform” is just a fancy way of saying the software or website you use to write your blog. There are lots to choose from. I have found WordPress to be the best fit for me. There are several reasons why but for the biggest ones are; 1. it’s free, b. it is super easy to use and finally it is very simple to “monetize”. Meaning, Google tends to like WordPress, making it easy for new readers to find you so brands are more likely to work with you when they want to advertise their products. If what I just said overwhelms you, then just pretend like I didn’t say it. For those of you who perked up, stay tuned… we will discuss monetizing a blog in this series.
Y’all listen to me… The platform you choose should make things easier for you to blog, not harder.
If you can’t move around the website easily you will get frustrated and quit before you even start. There are so many great websites to choose from, so don’t feel pressured to choose WordPress simply because I have. While I will post a few choices at the end of this post, a great thing to do would be to ask your Facebook friends who have a blog for their preferences and do a little research.
For my shopper friends out there: don’t overthink this step!
You will get overwhelmed and give up if you spend too much time on this step. Once you’ve gotten a few recommendations, take an hour or so to look into them and then decide on one.
SO! You’ve got a little bit of homework this week… once you decide, let me know which one you’ve chosen in the comments below. If you have any questions, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will do my best to help you!
